Arbitrary Arrest of Two Kabyle Activists in Adekar

Adekar, Kabylia, (Siwel) – The Algerian colonial repression is intensifying once again in Kabylia. On the morning of Friday, February 21, 2025, two Kabyle activists, Hamour Hamza and Meziane Abahri, were arbitrarily arrested by Algerian security forces in Adekar, according to local sources.

Their homes were searched without a legal warrant, a practice that has become common and aims to intimidate and silence any Kabyle opposition to the Algiers regime. No official information has been provided regarding the reasons for their arrest, but their commitment to the Kabyle cause leaves no doubt as to the real motives behind this repressive operation.

This new wave of arbitrary arrests illustrates the brutal policy of the Algerian colonial regime, which continues to violate the fundamental rights of the Kabyle people. Activists, journalists, and engaged citizens are being hunted, harassed, and arrested simply for claiming their right to freedom.

Algerian colonialism must immediately end its occupation of Kabylia. The international community can no longer turn a blind eye to these massive human rights violations. Kabylia has never renounced its freedom and will continue to fight against oppression with determination.

Long live free Kabylia!
