ANAVAD AQVAYLI DI VERRA
KABYLE GOVERNMENT IN EXILE
Prime Minister
The Kabyle Government in Exile (Anavad), in the exercise of its historic mission to restore Kabyle sovereignty, proclaimed 14 June as Kabyle Nation Day in 2013. This date was chosen in memory of the massive march on Algiers on 14 June 2001, which marked the collective awakening of the Kabyle people in the face of the denial of their fundamental cultural, linguistic, and political rights.
Kabyle Nation Day now stands as a solemn moment of reflection, mobilization, and reaffirmation of our inalienable right to self-determination. In this spirit, the Kabyle Government in Exile and the Movement for the Self-Determination of Kabylia are organizing two open-door events:
- Saturday, 14 June 2025, in Paris, from 10:00 to 21:00
- Sunday, 15 June 2025, in Montreal, from 13:00 to 17:00
These public gatherings are part of our broader policy rooted in transparency, proximity to the people, and the imperative of ongoing dialogue with Kabyle society. They aim to strengthen the connection between the independence movement’s governance and the citizens committed to national liberation.
The central theme of this year’s edition will focus on the Unilateral Declaration of Independence of Kabylia, which the Government is considering for the coming months. On this occasion, President Ferhat Mehenni will speak in both Paris and Montreal to present the foundations of this major political step and to respond—with clarity and a sense of responsibility—to questions from our fellow citizens.
In addition to political speeches and conferences, these events will offer a direct platform for dialogue between Kabyle citizens and the key institutions engaged in the struggle for national sovereignty.
Several representative organisations, including the MAK, Anavad, Imni, the Kabyle League for Human Rights (LKDH), Aza-Rouge, the Union of Kabyle Women (UFK), Ageruj Aqvayli, CESEK, CSD, and ASEK, will host information and exchange booths.
This unprecedented joint mobilisation reflects the vitality of our national movement and the convergence of Kabyle forces around a common ideal: the emancipation of our people and the reconstruction of an independent Kabyle State.
Moreover, in Paris, a roundtable will be dedicated to the political analysis of 14 June 2001, a pivotal day in the contemporary Kabyle movement, to highlight the importance of collective memory in shaping our national future. Moving forward without disconnecting from our past is a fundamental requirement for building a strong, dignified Kabyle Republic rooted in its history.
On this symbolic day, we solemnly call on all Kabyles—wherever they may be, in Kabylia or in the diaspora—to raise the Kabyle flag on their balconies, windows, or gathering places. This highly symbolic act will demonstrate our unity, our resilience, and our unwavering commitment to the Kabyle national project.
The Kabyle Government in Exile reaffirms its call for unity, national cohesion, and mass support for the Kabyle people’s liberation project.
Long live a free, dignified, and independent Kabyle Nation.
Hanafi Ferhouh
Prime Minister
